Hardees is at it again. A year or two ago, Hardees ran a commercial for their hamburgers, during the so-called "family hour" no less, featuring a pre-jail Paris Hilton riding suggestively on a mechanical bull whilst eating an Harbees sandwich. One Million Dads and One Million Moms, in conjunction with the American Family Association, began a grass roots activist campaign to have the commercial either removed from television, or shown at a later time, when children weren't watching. It worked. After facing the backlash of angry viewers, Hardees quietly and unceremoniously removed the commercial.
Well, never let it said you can't keep a good burger down. Hardees is at it again with a commercial that makes the Paris Hilton one look very tame indeed. The new commercial has a half naked model writhing on the floor in suggestive and lewd poses while eating a Hardees patty melt sandwich. In plain truth, this commercial is disgusting and an offensive to every Christian parent. Not to worry tho, One Million Dads and One Million Moms are on the job. Click on this link: One Million Dads Issue Details, or One Million Moms Issue Details, to view this offensive commercial and find out how you can get involved getting this thing off the air.
Not to fear, Arbys, I was getting around to you. Arbys has been of lately buying alot of commercial time on the cable channel F/X. F/X has a sorry history of showing some of the most offensive television shows to date. Shows such as "The Shield" and "Rescue Me" push the envelope of decency with their use of violence and foul language. Another show, "Nip/Tuck", a show about plastic surgery, always somehow manages to work in some gratuitous titillation or sexual innuendos. The problem is that F/X brags that these shows are the backbone of the network.
I can understand that businesses and companies must advertise to survive, and television is one of the best ways to advertise, but, common Arbys, aren't you suppose to be family-orientated? Do you think it will help your company image to have Arbys associated with television programming that's not only bad, but absolutely disgusting?
Since July of 2006, One Million Dads and One Million Moms (click on the links to read what has been happening) have conducted an extensive e-mailing campaign to Arbys to try to get Arbys to pull their ads from F/X. Arbys corporate answer has been to block any and all e-mails coming from OMD or OMM. That's Arbys answer. A so-called family company doesn't want to hear complaints from Christian Moms and Dads. Arbys just doesn't care.
Well, we the people can do something about this. First, boycott Arbys and Hardees(also Carl, Jrs, a subsidary or Hardees). Secondly, call your local Arbys and Hardees and tell them how you feel and that you won't be patronizing their establishments. Third, spread the news. Tell your friends at church, work, or whereever. Give them the links to OMD and OMM and let them see for themselves what is going on. Last, but certainly not least, talk to your children. Keep an eye on what televison shows they watch. Let them know that F/X is not acceptable in a Christian home and neither are Arbys or Hardees and the reasons why.
We live in a world where sex sells. We live in a world where 8-10 year old children have sexual slogans printed on their pants and shirts and teen-pregnancy, rapes, sexual assaults and pedophilia are common . We also live in a world where parents find it easier to make excuses or shift blame on to institutions for what is going on rather than take a stand to stop it. God has given us children to raise for His glory and honor. It is a sacred duty and obligation we have. I truly believe if we fail in our jobs as parents, we not only will have our children to answer to but also God.
It doesn't take a village to raise a child. Just Christian parents who care!!!!
